BITS which stands for Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani conducts an admission test for admissions in the engineering degree courses at their campuses located in Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa. The exam is commonly known as BITSAT 2016 and it is the key to admission in BITS.

Eligibility Criteria
It is required that the candidate matches following eligibility criteria to apply for the exam,Highlights
- has passed 10+2 from a recognized board in India or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
- has scored a total of 75% or more in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Maths/Biology in XIIth while scoring minimum 60% marks in each subjects separately.
- has passed the board (10+2) in 2015 (2014 or earlier are not eligible for exam.)
- *Those who are appearing the XII board or equivalent in year 2016 are also eligible for BITSAT 2016.

BITSAT 2016 Application forms will be available from December (3rd week tentatively), and the deadline will be usually after a month of the availability of forms.The aspirants will have to fill the form online and pay the fees, then take printout of the form for future reference.
Note: You can only apply once for BITSAT 2016
What if I made a mistake filling the application form?
There is nothing to worry about in that case, if you made a mistake, you can simply fill the form again (you have to pay the fees again), and send a letter to the admission offices of BITS that reads the previous application number, it will be cancelled.Contact Details

BITSAT 2016 - Eligibility Criteria Details
This article contains information about BITSAT 2016 eligibility criteria in detail, candidates who wish to appear for BITSAT must match the criteria elements listed below.
The admissions will be made on merit based on marks scored by candidates in SAT Subject Tests in Physics, Chemistry and Maths Level 2.

BITSAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria
- Must have passed 12th (10+2 system) from central or state board of India or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. He/she must have proficiency in English language.
- If taken Mathematics in BITSAT, he/she must have scored minimum 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths. If taken Biology, he/she must have scored minimum 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 12th exam.
- As well as he/she must have scored at least 60% marks in each subjects.
Students who are appearing for 12th board in 2016 or those who have passed it in 2015 are eligible for BITSAT 2016. - If a candidate has attempted 12th class more than once, the latest scores are taken into consideration.
The admissions will only be made on merit basis, and the merit rank will be based on the entrance exam score.
Students who have scored first in central or state board in 2016 will be given direct admission to course of their choice, the BITSAT score for them will not be considered.

For International Students:
International Students can also apply for BITSAT 2016, they must have taken SAT and SAT subject tests conducted by College Board for admission to first degree programmes at BITS campuses at Pilani-Hydrabad for year 2016-17. Those who hold passport issued by any country other than India are eligible under 'International Students Scheme'The admissions will be made on merit based on marks scored by candidates in SAT Subject Tests in Physics, Chemistry and Maths Level 2.

- BITSAT 2015 is a Computer Based Online Test.
- Duration of BITSAT 2015 will be three hours with 150 multiple choice questions
- The BITSAT 2015 Question Paper will be divided into four sections:First section in Physics with 40 questionsSecond section in Chemistry with 40 questionsThird section consists of questions to test the candidate’s English Proficiency with 15 questions and Logical Reasoning with 10 questionsFourth section in Maths with 45 questions
- Each correct answer will get three marks each
- One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

- For admission to any of the First Degree programmes of BITS except B.Pharm.(Hons.): Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.
- (ii)For admission to B.Pharm.(Hons.): Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and adequate proficiency in English. However candidates with PCM may also apply for Pharmacy program.
Admission to all the programmes is subject to the conditions given below.
- The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.
- Only Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2014 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2013 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2014 test. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2012 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2014. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2014.
- Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2014. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination, as mentioned above.

BITSAT 2015 Paper Pattern:
- Candidates have to appear for an Online Test of 3 hours duration.
- The BITSAT exam comprises of four sections; one section for each subject as given in the table below.
- All questions asked in BITSAT 2015 will be of objective type / multiple choice questions with candidates required to choose one answer out of four options.
- The computer is programmed not to allow any candidate to choose more than one answer.
- Every correct answer carries 3 marks
- Every incorrect answer will be awarded -1 mark
- Candidates can skip a question if they desire to and come back later to answer it
- The total number of questions in BITSAT 2015 will be 150 questions
- There is no time limit section wise for the test. Candidates can answer any questions, any sections and go back to edit their previous answers too within the 3 hour duration of BITSAT 2015.
- Any candidate capable of answering the 150 question within the specified time can attempt an additional 12 questions (four each from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry only).
- Candidates who choose to answer these extra 12 questions will not be able to go to the actual BITSAT exam to change any of the 150 answers completed previously.
- All questions and question Papers will be in English
- Candidates will be given different papers as the questions will be randomly selected from a large database by the computer.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test is a University Level Under Graduate (UG) Exam conducted by BITS Pilani University.
BITSAT 2015 is conducted by the BITS Pilani University for admissions to the various engineering courses to the BITS Pilani, BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad campuses.
There will be NO BITSAT 2015 Reservation of Seats for any category of candidates and the admissions will be done purely on merit basis. Therefore the level of competition for exam will be very high and all candidates should prepare accordingly for the exam.
Most other national level and State Level exams have reservation clauses in which some seats are reserved for candidates of reserved categories but there will be no BITSAT 2015 Seat Reservation for any category candidates. There will be however, DIRECT ADMISSIONS which will be done on the basis of Class XII Board Merit and will be done for all categories of candidates. Apart from that there will be NO reservation in admission on Reserved Seats in BITSAT 2015 as there will exist none.
Candidates will have to rely on their own skills to get admission as they will have to score more for getting a seat. The reservation tends to give benefit to some of the category candidates and hence they don’t have to face that much pressure for qualifying the exam. However, the competition level gets really HIGH once the reservation is ruled out. Hence, the absence of BITSAT 2015 Reservation of Seats will lead to a higher competition level in exam.
The BITS exam differs from other entrance exams in many ways and reservation is one of them. Candidates are admitted only on the basis of their merit. Also the exam will be conducted in online mode and candidates’ individual score will be shown to them after the exam is over on their screens.
